The Mountain Park co-op is a group of troops from around the North Fulton area that have come together to allow the girls more opportunities for activities and friendship. The Co-op works on badges, awards, service and travel opportunities for the high school aged Girl Scout. Recent badge works has included High Adventure, Car Care, and From Shore to Sea. Awards such as the Silver and Gold awards are the highest awards a Girl Scout can earn. Including a service project that helps the community, shows leadership, and a commitment to helping others. Our recent service opportunities have including helping at the Atlanta Soup Kitchen, Chattahoochee Nature Center Halloween Hikes, and collections for the homeless. Travels have included London, Paris and Switzerland to visit the Girl Scout World Centers. Future travels include a trip Summer 2011 to Costa Rica.
Fourteen girls and five adults from the Mountain Park Service Unit in Fulton County recently traveled to Our Chalet and Paris (pictured above). In Paris, the girls had fun climbing the Arc de Triomphe and seeing the sunset from the top of the Eiffel Tower. The girls also toured the Orsay, Louvre, Notra Dame and the Catacombs. At Our Chalet, the girls enjoyed learning about Swiss culture, riding zip lines and rock climbing and rappelling. They also visited towns such as Thun, Interlaken and Adelboden.
